Prepare and Avoid Quizzing Issues

If you're going to be taking a Canvas Quiz on campus, there are a few steps you can take to ensure the experience isn't more challenging than it's supposed to be:

  1. Make sure that your computer is fully charged before starting an exam.
  2. Update your web browser—Canvas supports the last two versions of every major browser and recommends the newest version of the browser.
  3. Never log in to Canvas on more than one browser during an exam, or you may accidentally overwrite a correct answer.

Respondus LockDown Browser

In addition to the preparations described above, there are several things that will ensure a quiz requiring LockDown Browser (LDB) goes smoothly:

  1. Make sure you have an up-to-date Emory version of LDB installed on your laptop. Versions are specific to each institution, so you must use the Emory link—if you are on a Chromebook, this link will provide the extension which you cannot get from the Chrome web store.
  2. Remember to close all other applications before launching LockDown Browser.

Wireless on Campus

Be sure you connect to EmoryUnplugged wireless.

Do not use eduroam or Emory Guest while taking a quiz, particularly if your instructor is requiring that you use LockDown Browser.

If you need help getting connected, get in touch with Student Tech Support before your quiz.
