Now accepting applications for Teaching With Canvas

Teaching & Learning Technologies is pleased to offer Teaching With Canvas (TWC), a faculty cohort program available each semester. Designed to support sustainable course design and foster instructional innovation, TWC provides a flexible and engaging professional development experience. Applications for the Fall 2025 cohort are now open.

Teaching With Canvas (TWC) is a selective program designed for a small cohort of faculty committed to enhancing their courses. Participants will create new course modules or even redesign an entire course site for future terms. Grounded in inclusive, engaging, and innovative teaching strategies, the program blends virtual, in-person, and self-paced interactions. It also fosters informal learning and collaboration, encouraging cohort members to share ideas and insights throughout the experience.

The cohort will meet in person two to three times during the semester. Throughout the program, Teaching and Learning Technologies Educational Analysts will provide ongoing guidance and personalized Canvas support to each participant.

Participants will follow a customized learning path tailored to their individual interests, focusing on one or more of the following key areas:

  • Design – Explore strategies for presenting accessible, well-organized course content while building an inclusive and supportive learning environment in Canvas.
  • Engagement – Develop dynamic teaching techniques and diverse assessment methods to enhance student interaction and achieve course goals.
  • Data – Analyze learning trends and use Canvas data to inform decisions and continuously improve course design and delivery.

Apply now to join the Fall 2025 TWC cohort by completing the brief online application. For questions or more information, feel free to email us at classes@emory.edu. We look forward to collaborating with you!

Curious what participants created in earlier cohorts? We wrote about projects from Julie Gazmararian (Rollins School of Public Health), Michelle Sariev (School of Nursing), Patricia Cahill (ECAS–English), and Cassidy Puckett (ECAS–Sociology) on Digital Matters.
