Canvas Student Mobile App

The Canvas Student Mobile App allows you to access your courses, submit assignments, view grades, and engage with your class directly from your mobile device. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you effectively navigate and use the app.

1. Downloading and Installing the App

For iOS Devices:
Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
Search for "Canvas Student."
Tap "Get" to download and install the app.

For Android Devices:
Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
Search for "Canvas Student."
Tap "Install" to download and install the app.

2. Logging into the App

Open the Canvas Student app.
Tap "Find my school."
Enter "Emory University" in the search bar.
Select "Emory University" from the search results.
Log in using your Emory NetID and password.

3. Navigating the Dashboard

Upon logging in, you'll see your Dashboard, which displays all your active courses.

Course Cards: Tap on a course card to access that specific course.
Navigation Menu: Access the main menu by tapping the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner. Here, you can navigate to:
Calendar: View upcoming assignments and events.
To-Do List: See a list of tasks and assignments.
Notifications: Check recent announcements and updates.

4. Accessing Course Content

Modules: Courses are often organized into modules. Tap "Modules" to view lectures, readings, and other materials.
Assignments: View and submit assignments by tapping "Assignments."
Discussions: Participate in course discussions by selecting "Discussions."
Grades: Check your grades by tapping "Grades."

5. Submitting Assignments

Navigate to the specific assignment within your course.
Tap "Submit Assignment."
Choose the submission type (e.g., file upload, text entry).
Follow the prompts to complete your submission.

6. Viewing and Posting to Discussions

Tap "Discussions" within your course.
Select the discussion topic.
To reply, tap "Reply," enter your message, and tap "Post Reply."

7. Checking Grades

Tap "Grades" within your course.
View your scores and instructor feedback for each assignment.

8. Setting Up Notifications

Tap the main menu (three horizontal lines).
Select "Settings."
Tap "Push Notifications."
Customize your notification preferences to stay updated on course activities.

9. Offline Access

The Canvas Student App offers an offline feature, allowing you to download course content for access without an internet connection.

Navigate to the desired course content.
Tap the download icon to save the content for offline use.
Access downloaded content anytime, even without internet access.
